Initial response

 

The suspense has been lifted - due to circumstances beyond control the response from the conservator has been some weeks on its way - but just today a very accurate and descriptive offer on how to restore frame and picture to its finest has arrived.

To be sure the means measure the object - I am having thoughts on the further procedure and am pretty sure that a proper identification/valuation is needed before proceeding - how that is done......!?

During the period of waiting I conducted yet another web search - found one more Gaetano source on Tutt'Art and through this site came across a harbour picture by the artist - not the same strong coloured sails but intuitively there is a similarity in painting method.
